Available light 1 (please grade this picture)

I'm sorry if the images seem a little dark, they appear that way on my screen but i don't know if they'll show up the same way for you.

Moment

Bruno Barbey
- This image works because the photographer waited until the person was standing in the light to take the picture. By doing so, he was able to highlight the person in question and and make him stand out from the black background.

Something to think about

The cyanotype process is more representational than an artist's rendition because a cyanotype is an impression of the object itself. In other words, the final image will have the exact same curves/dimensions as the object in question. The fact that the photogram is an impression of the real image gives it a sense of realism, because we know that the object being used is exactly what we see on paper, which is what they probably thought when the process was being developed at the time. The characteristics of the cyanotype process does limit its documentary efficacy because there is there is a lot of contrast and some parts of the image are burnt out.
