Something to think about
The cyanotype process is more representational than an artist's rendition because a cyanotype is an impression of the object itself. In other words, the final image will have the exact same curves/dimensions as the object in question. The fact that the photogram is an impression of the real image gives it a sense of realism, because we know that the object being used is exactly what we see on paper, which is what they probably thought when the process was being developed at the time. The characteristics of the cyanotype process does limit its documentary efficacy because there is there is a lot of contrast and some parts of the image are burnt out.
